I know very little of the political particulars on display there in the UK, but it seems that here in Australia there seems to a similar disconnect.

On the gate keeping/boundary setting topic however, I note that your statement of norms being notorious to shift, and that the legacies of hosts gone by often linger. The same goes with culture building in organisations, once unkept and unaddressed, it is often too far ahead to rein in. I guess it is precisely in these situations that we need hosts who can recognise the need to reorient the collective with a good sense of who will be able to get it done with the right support.

That is SO well put. Thank you very much. Yes, this is a really key role for people moving into host leadership to be observant and proactive about the norms they establish. Even more than keeping useful ways of working going.

This an object lesson in finding a pearl in the mud.

Raab is a classic narcissist. Bullying, controlling and can never, ever admit he’s wrong - because to admit that would cause his entire world to crumble. They are the most dangerous people on the planet, but unfortunately often end up as political leaders because they’re seen as ‘strong’, ‘determined’ and ‘unwavering’.

Horrible man. We’ll see him on GBNews soon, probably.
